National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in cinemas

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in cinemas

This Monday, September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day.

Through the weekend and on Monday, cinemas from coast to coast are recognizing this day with screenings and events. We encourage you to check your local cinema.

Film exhibition spaces across Turtle Island are on the treaty lands and traditional territories of many Indigenous nations, and are important spaces for sharing Indigenous stories of the past, present and future.

At NICE, we very much hope to one day support the creation of a year-round Indigenous-led cinema. More than one.

In addition, audiences can see Dr. Jules Arita Koostachin’s documentary WaaPaKe (Tomorrow) on the NFB’s online platform, starting September 30.

Plus, contact IsumaTV anytime to express interest in bringing their film Tautuktavuk (What We See) to your community.
